Distance, Resolution, Light & Timer Solutions
I bought this Zire72 for the sole porpouse of shooting at patients' skins, in order to record the lesions for later presentation. Unfortunately, I found that the Zire72's camera is unable to shoot at less-than-one-feet distance. That is a shame
There's an easy workaround if you, like me, are very disappointed with this camera:
Use a magnifying glass! It is incredible, it works!
Using glasses for Hypermethropy won't do it. The magnigying glass will.I suggest to take 640*480 pictures. They will let you shoot the next one quicker, that's a shorter delay. 1.2 megapixels in the Zire72 means: "More of the same crap"
As for the light. Sorry, there is not workaround. Some cellphones nowadays have built-in flash for their camera. Not the Zire's case. Palm puts your intelligence to test by saying: "shoot your pictures in a well light place". I want it in a restaurant at night!. There are some fluorescent lamps (white light) which have a right light for shooting with your Zire72. For instance, in the hospital where I work they are just perfect; my desktop lamp is excellent, too. The kitchen tungsten lamp is horrible.
I think that the most useful tip which you will read in this post is: Use Teksphoto, from Ninelocks. It is free, it is small, it is clean, AND it gives your zire's camera a new function!.
Visit them at http://www.ninelocks.com/teksphotos
Teksphoto is a timer for your Zire / Treo. It lets you define how many pictures will be taken, which in interval will be between them, and some other options. It is worth using it.
Should this link no longer be available, email me and I will post the software (Click Here). I'm happy because I am kind (blablabla) :-)
